At these meetings, which are usually attended by thirty to fifty members, guest speakers keep members up to date with latest developments in the budgerigar fancy. A night show competition is also held on most of these nights for showing and preparing birds for the major shows. (unless the temperature is forecast to be 32 degrees or over).
Members compete in the following categories: Open, Intermediate, Novice and Junior. Prizes are awarded for the best bird in each class on the night and also for the "bird of the night" which is for the best bird of a particular variety designated for that night. Some monthly meetings are devoted to mini shows and club auctions and the December meeting is devoted to a membership gathering elsewhere from the hall. An annual syllabus is issued to members for the years events at the meetings.

OTHER NEBS INFORMATION

Major shows are held in March and May annually (weather policies apply) and the goals of these shows are to promote the showing and improvement of birds amongst our members.
The show in March is the Fisher Annual Show and this is an open show for both our members and other local club members with all members encouraged to exhibit both young and older birds.
The May show is for young birds only and the goal of this show is to select a team on behalf of the NEBS to exhibit the following week in the local Logan Shield club competition run by the State Council. Birds then selected at the Logan Shield become representatives for South Australia in the National Competition held later in May in one of the seven states and zones throughout Australia.
